Hello again,
I'm Mawendo.
(MUH-WHEN-DOE) I am a product designer based in New York City navigating my way through the intersection of design, technology, and genuine human understanding. I am a curious observer, a seeker of deeper meanings, and a visual thinker.

My product design journey
Drawing on my experiences with psychology, visual arts, and data visualization, I design intuitive digital experiences fueled by user empathy and research. I have always had an endless curiosity about people and the mind. In my experience with data visualization, I learned the value of being attentive to the details in the data. I found excitement in extracting valuable insights from the information and visually communicating the story behind the data. Once I discovered the world of product design, I was hooked on the idea of creating change through functional and beautiful designs.
As someone who wants to make people feel comfortable and heard, I believe it is essential to take the time to genuinely understand and advocate for the people who interact with the designs that we bring forth into the world. As a designer, I believe I have a responsibility to create products and designs that are respectful of people’s attention and privacy in a world with endless distractions. I strive to create memorable experiences for people while being mindful that technology can have an impact on a person’s well-being and state of mind.
Outside of design
I love baking bread—the art of properly kneading the dough; the hours of anticipation before revealing the rise; the heartwarming aroma of freshly-baked bread. I love exploring new restaurants, celebrating the beauty of food, and discovering new recipes to cook. I also love yoga and reading anything about the mind-body connection. I am fascinated by the power and the mysteries of the human mind.
